April 2017

Dear Family,

Spring registration for religious education for 2017-2018 will take place in April and will close on May 20th. Please honor the closing date for registration.

Each family is being sent one form. Please download additional forms for each child here on our website. Please send it to the Office of Faith Formation with the registration fee. Once you are registered in the program, you will be receiving a letter and a calendar in late August. Also, we remind all families need to be registered in our parish. You will find the parish registration forms on our website. All Faith Formation communities will be formed after May 20th.

Grades K-6 meet at Emerson-Williams School on Saturday mornings: The new gathering time for 2017-2018 is from 8:30-9:30am (grades K-3) and 8:30am-9:45am (grades 4-6). Again, please note the new time schedule.

All parish family home communities will now meet in Father Crawford Hall. These classes are very limited. If a class is unavailable, then children will attend Emerson-Williams.

Please direct any questions about the program to the Office of Faith Formation and we would be happy to help you. Please do not consult a catechist regarding placement of your child(ren). All communities are formed by the Director of Faith Formation only.

Kindergarten is an optional program and it begins on the last Saturday in October at Emerson-Williams School.

We welcome you to become a catechist. “A catechist is a symbol of the church community. You have received and responded to a call from God to lead others toward growth in faith and understanding of the tradition.” Echoes of Faith. A catechist must be a practicing Catholic with a strong desire to bring the Gospel message to our children. Each catechist is trained in the Archdiocesan “Protecting God’s Children” program. A catechist may deduct $20.00 from the total tuition as a token of gratitude for your service.

Blessings and Peace,
Noranne S. Wamester, Pastoral Associate

“If my people are called by My name humble themselves, pray, seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Welcome! In a few words, I wish to highlight the gifts of Faith Formation - truly a three-pronged approach to the religious education of a child and all that it can bring to family life.

Worship provides...

HOPE: Our center of hope is found in the Eucharist.
ENERGY: Our responsibility is to worship weekly. Putting God first in family life is life-giving. Children’s Liturgy of the Word, which happens bi-monthly enhances a child’s spiritual formation.
DIRECTION: Our goal, very simply, is to embrace God’s Word and take it to heart.

Faith Formation class provides...

STRENGTH: Faith Formation is the best kept secret in raising a wholesome family.
FOCUS: Our Baptism calls us to be Disciples of Christ.
MISSION: Our mission is to rededicate ourselves to the Christian life.
SUPPORT: Our gifts are faithful catechists sharing their faith with our children.

Home habit of prayer provides…

REST: Family life in this digital world is hectic and stressful at times. Our Catholic faith encourages rest and advocates a prayerful life.
FOUNDATION: Children need a strong sense of family within a faithful community to love and support them.
POSITIVE CHANGE: Families for Christ seeking inner peace can change our world.

Tom McGrath, the author of Raising Faith-filled Kids calls us all to:

1. Speak your faith!
2. Live your faith!
3. Revere your faith!
4. Point each child to the gift of faith!

Let us begin! God’s blessings be upon us.
