To create a nurturing, welcoming, educational and spiritual environment where our youth can learn about their faith using a dynamic method that builds community and fellowship. Our mission is to encourage and support families to more intimately embrace God's love and mercy by sharing the Eucharist and growing in their Catholic faith. Our vision is to foster an environment that allows every individual the opportunity to grow in a personal relationship with our loving Lord.

July 2018

Dear Families,

Welcome to the beginning of a new Vision for our Elementary Faith Formation program for the 2018-2019 catechetical year! It is with immense joy and a humble heart that I take on this new role at Incarnation Church as Coordinator for Elementary Faith Formation. I am most blessed to continue to have the guidance and mentorship of Noranne Wamester and Father Moran as we go forward in continuing to build a strong faith community of believers centered in the Eucharist. I ask for your prayers as we work together in using all our collective talents and gifts to build the Kingdom of God!

As you well know, we live in a changing, fast-paced and demanding world and we must find a balance that allows us to focus on our family needs and also grow together as a faith-filled parish community. Together, and as a team along with Noranne and Maggie Seaver, and with the support and counsel of Father Moran, we have created a new Elementary Faith Formation Vision.

A New Vision

The new Vision will call all children back to “holy ground” at our church and will eliminate Saturday classes at Emerson Williams school as well as weekday classes in Father Crawford Hall beginning this Fall.  Our purpose is to bring ALL grade-level children together at one time learning the same lesson. We will take on the Middle School model of large group and media presentation and follow-up with small group discussion and activities developmentally appropriate for each age level.

Most exciting is that this new Vision will incorporate grade-level retreats, community outreach projects, and special intergenerational activities and events to bring families closer together as we celebrate our faith. We invite you all to participate fully and/or lead these activities and share your talents and gifts with our children and the community.

Classes

Grades 1-3 will meet on alternating Saturdays (8:30-9:45 a.m.) and Sundays (9:30-10:15 a.m.) as presented on the schedule.  Grade 4 will meet bi-monthly on Wednesdays from 5:00 – 6:15 p.m. Grades 5 and 6 will meet on Tuesdays and Wednesdays bi-monthly from 6:30-8:00 p.m. (Grade 6 on Tuesday; Grade 5 on Wednesday).

In addition, and most importantly, we will be meeting on certain designated Sundays for 10:30 a.m. Mass for Grades 4-6 during the year. Grades 1-3 will meet on certain Sundays from 9:30-10:15 a.m. and then attend 10:30 a.m. Mass as well.  Some of these Masses will include Children’s Liturgy of the Word. As you know, we want to foster a love for our Lord and what better way then to encounter Him in the Eucharist each week in order to deepen our relationship with Jesus.

Schedules: Grade 1 | Grade 2 | Grade 3 | Grade 4 | Grade 5 | Grade 6

Family Involvement

The team has developed this new Vision after hours of research and discussion and in response to family needs. Our hope is to provide our families with flexibility to manage other demands and still continue to make their faith a priority. We understand that change is always difficult and we pray you will embrace this new Vision as it becomes a reality in our parish this Fall.

As we go forward, we will continue to improve upon and make any necessary changes that may arise. We ask for your support and cooperation, but most importantly, we look for your involvement during the year with all activities and events we are organizing. A separate mailing will be sent in late August outlining the planned special events, outreach projects and intergenerational gatherings.

Please be sure to let me know if you are interested in becoming a catechist on your child’s or any grade-level team. We are focused on working together to enrich our faith experience and grow in Christ as a community of believers.

Please review the attached schedule, complete the registration form for each child, and return with your payment by August 10, 2018.  Thank you and God Bless!

Sincerely,

Filomena Marinelli
Elementary Faith Formation Coordinator (Grades K-6)
